Contact Lens Exam
Service Description
A contact lens exam is a specialized eye exam to assess your eye health and determine the best contact lenses for your vision. While a standard eye exam focuses on your overall vision and eye health, a contact lens exam goes a step further to ensure the contact lenses fit correctly and comfortably. Contact lenses rest directly on your cornea—the clear, curved layer that covers your iris and pupil. But just like fingerprints, no two corneas are exactly alike! Some have a steeper curve, while others are more irregular in shape, which is why a proper fit is essential for both comfort and clear vision. If your contacts don’t align well with your eye’s natural shape, they can cause discomfort, shift when you blink, or lead to irritation and dryness. Since contact lenses are meant to enhance your vision and daily comfort, an improper fit can make wearing them more frustrating than beneficial. That’s why a contact lens fitting is an important part of the process. During your appointment, your optometrist will take precise measurements of your cornea’s curvature, as well as the size of your pupil and iris. Using this information, we’ll determine the best contact lenses for your unique eyes. To ensure a perfect match, you’ll receive a trial pair to wear for a few weeks before finalizing your prescription.
